As a professional paramedic, I use these types of sheers often in the field to cut both bandages and clothing. They are handy to have around, and can cut through most things without difficulty. If you are serious about having a decent first aid kit, you should include a pair or two of these. These sheers by cynamed are pretty standard for what I have seen over the years. They work well enough, are lightweight and easy to hold, and have the tip that is safer for use so that you don’t cut the patient. I like the green color and the designs on the blades of the sheers, the aesthetics are usually different among brands. The lighter color shows dirt and blood more readily, making them easier to clean. I initially thought these seemed a bit pricey, but at looking at the others available on Amazon, I see that they are actually reasonably priced. Nice product.

This type of bandage shears, made from stamped, hardened, steel, has become pretty ubiquitous anywhere a rugged pair of shears is needed. They’re often called EMT scissors, as they’ve usually part of an EMT’s kit. Unlike the traditional Lister bandage shears they can’t be heat sterilized or sharpened, but they’re cheap enough to replace when they become dull- usually after a lot of use. There generally isn’t much If any functional difference between one pair and another, so purchasing decisions are usually made on price and appearance. These are priced at the lower end, so if the color and graphics appeal to you, you well find them a good addition to you kit. This pair is going in the first aid kit I keep in my car.
