As a retired physician, I have been handling scalpels for many decades. Now, I use a scalpel as a lame to score sourdough bread. This Cynamed Scalpel Handle was just what I needed to replace an old, beaten up handle. The handle has a bright finish, with a centimeter scale on one side. There are grip areas towards the blade end. I was able to load a #11 blade onto the handle (see photo, blade not included with handle) with no problem, snapping into place as it should. Removal was also without difficulties. The handle weighs 21.5 grams, which seemed a bit lighter than the older handles I have been using, but still with a good feel, not feeling too lightweight at all.

The blade was a little tight but fits well once it’s on. The best part is that the handle has a nice pattern cut into it to give you a good grip on the blade.
J. Carrier –
A standard handle for #10 series blades. Ergonomically satisfactory. Acceptable pricing.

Great Handle! This feels very nice in my hand with a pencil grip especially. My thumb and index finger are securely held in place by the divots (concave indentations) in the front of the handle. The weight is just right to give some indication as to positioning in my hand (due to pressure exerted via gravity). The finish is smooth, and the tongue that holds the blade in place holds it in very securely.I am confident with my handling of this blade and thus recommend it!

This is a very well crafted, highly detailed, perfectly machined piece of surgical stainless steel it has a nice balance and weight about it. Truly a very pretty product. 5 Stars.
T. Burchett –
Got this to practice for vet school. Love the measure marks and grip grooves
Thanatyr –
It’s light weight, sturdy, and easy to grip. It also had shallow grooves for the scalpel blades, and the nub the grooves were in was severely rhomboid in cross section. Both of which were fixable, but I shouldn’t have had to do that.

I have used several different scalpel handles for my Biology teacher needs as well as my leathercrafter uses. This one really stands out as being heavier and more substantial, with a nice grip. It wasn’t too hard to seat new blades (often not the easiest job), and once in place, the blade was solid and secure. I have had free handles sent with blade orders, and I can tell you that this handle is so much nicer to use.I’m no surgeon, but I think I’ll love this handle for doing dissection with my students, as well as crafting out of class.
